Australian Youth Climate Coalition

Young people holding climate change signs

Empowering youth in Townsville to become leaders in their community and strong voices for climate action.

IMPACT AREA: Protection and restoration of the environment

The Morris Family Foundation has been supporting the Australian Youth Climate Coalition in Townsville since 2018 to engage with young people and give them the skills they need to be leaders in their community calling for climate action.

AYCC works to empower youth to have conversations about meaningful action on climate change, which is especially important in Queensland with regional electorates like Herbert and Leichhardt having some of the lowest enrolment rates in Queensland. AYCC want to empower youth to make sure their voices are heard and considered in the election campaign by building widespread support for climate solutions that work for communities and sharing this vision with media, MPs and candidates.

In 2022, the organisation aims to organise youth ahead of the federal election to be climate leaders and build public support for meaningful climate solutions to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels.
